Infant 1
Hello, my name is Miss Ashley and I am the lead teacher in the Infant 1 classroom. I have been with The Learning Garden for over 1 year now. I am a wife and mother of 2 amazing boys! When I am not at work caring for and getting in baby snuggles, I love to spend time at home with my family. The family-like work environment and friendships I have made along the way, make The Learning Garden such a great place to be.
Infant 1
6 weeks to 12 months
Our primary goal in our infant rooms is to create a safe, loving and nurturing environment that allows each child to develop a positive sense of self. We understand that leaving your infant in someone else’s care can be very difficult. We want to make the transition as easy as possible for you and your child. The first step in doing this is scheduling a tour of our center. This allows you to see your child’s classroom, meet your child’s teacher and to see how the center operates. Before your infant’s first day, you will fill out an enrollment packet and provide us with as much information as you can about your infant. This ensures that we learn as much information as we can about your child and enables us to provide the best experience for your child.
The infant 1 classroom is designed for infants 6 weeks – 12 months old and is for our less mobile babies. In this room we put focus on tummy time to aid in the development of gross motor skills. Tummy time allows infants to begin to build their gross motor skills and coordinate their large muscle groups (i.e., arms, legs, torso and head). With consistency, infants will begin to meet milestones such as rolling, crawling, reaching, standing, walking and throwing. We also focus on the cognitive development of infants with activities such as reading, listening to music, making eye contact and having conversation, and showing them different facial expressions. In this room each child’s schedule is based on his/her individual needs, as well as the wants and needs of the parent(s).
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
